Domain Name Service (or Server), it is an Internet service that translates domain names into IP addresses. Domain names are alphabetic, so they are easier to be remembered. However, the Internet is really based on IP addresses, so a translator is needed.

Every time you use a domain name, therefore, a DNS service must translate the name into the corresponding IP address.

Change DNS on router

For example, the domain name www.example.com might translate to 192.103.212.8.

  1. Start your Web browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.).
  2. In the Address box, type the IP address of your router, and then press Enter.
  3. Type the administrator user name and password, and then click OK.
  4. → Router configuration settings page will be opened in your Web browser.
  5. Open the DNS settings.
  6. In the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server boxes, type the DNS server IP addresses provided by your Internet service provider (ISP).
  7. Click Save.
