Getting Things Ready
Before creating a new SSTP VPN connection on your Windows 8, first you will need to set things up:
1- You need an internet connection that works properly.
2- Make sure that your you have a supported device.
3- Make sure that your VPN service subscription is active (e.g: bVPN).
Setting Up SSTP VPN on Windows8 (Manually)
Follow the steps below in order to successfully create a new SSTP VPN connection on your Windows8 system:
1- Navigate to your system tray, and then right-click on the “Wifi/LAN” icon.
2- Next, click on “Open Network and Sharing Settings”.
3- After that, click on “Set up a new connection or network”.
5- Choose “Use my Internet connection (VPN)”.
6- Insert the IP address of the server you want to connect to.
7- In the destination name, type in the name of your SSTP VPN (e.g: bVPN SSTP).
8- Choose “Remember my credentials”.
9- Choose “Allow other people to use this connection”.
10- Click on “Create”.
11- Right-click on your newly created SSTP VPN connection, and then select “View connection properties”. If you have Windows 8.1, then go to “Network and Sharing Settings” and click on “Change Adapter Settings” . Right-click on your new SSTP VPN connection, and then click on “Properties”.
12- Click on the “Security” tab, and then choose “Secure Socket Tunneling protocol SSTP”.
13- From the “Data encryption” drop down menu, choose “Optional”.
14- Now, click on the “Networking” tab, and then uncheck both “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” as well as “File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks”.
15- Click on “OK”.
17- Head over to your system tray, and then right-click on the “Wifi/LAN” icon.
18- Click on “Open Network and Sharing Settings”.
19- Click on your newly created SSTP VPN connection, and then insert your VPN credentials (username and password).
