How to Setup VPN on Freebox Router

In this tutorial, we will show you how to easily configure any VPN on Freebox router to make sure that your internet connection is secure and private at all times.

How to Install VPN on Freebox Router (PPTP/OpenVPN)

Follow the steps below to successfully establish a connection between your VPN app and Freebox router.

1- Connect to  http://ma-freebox.fr/ through your local network. You can also use any external network , and then insert your Freebox IP.

2- Next, insert your password.

3- You will now be able to view the Freebox UI. Click on “Parametres de la Freebox”.

4- Select “Mode avance”, and then click on “Client VPN”.

5- Click on “Client VPN”, and then head over to the “Configuration VPN tab”.

6- Choose “Ajouter une connexion”.

Setting up VPN through PPTP Protocol

Use the following information to fill in the specified fields:

1. a) Description: name of your VPN connection.
2. b) Type de serveur VPN (VPN Server Type): PPTP.
3. c) Nom d’hote (Hostname): insert the IP address of the VPN server you want to connect to.
4. d) Nom d’utilisateur (Username): insert your VPN username.
5. e) Mot de passe (Password): insert your VPN password.
6. f) Mode de chiffrement (Encryption mode): choose “Obligatoire 128 bits” from the drop down menu.
7. g) MS-CHAPv2 : Activated.
8. h) Click on “Sauvegarder” after you have verified the input values.

Setting up VPN through OpenVPN Protocol

Use the following information to fill in the specified fields:

1. a) Description: name of your VPN connection.
2. b) Type de serveur VPN (VPN Server Type): select “OpenVPN”.
3. c) Nom d’hote (Hostname): insert the IP address of the VPN server you want to connect to.
4. d) Nom d’utilisateur (Username): insert your VPN username.
5. e) Mot de passe (Password): insert your VPN password.
6. f) Fichier de configuration (Configuration File): click on “Parcourir”, and then upload the VPN config file you have previously downloaded.
7. g) Choose between UDP or TCP files, and then select the file of the server you want to connect to.
8. h) Click on “Sauvegarder” after you have verified all input values.

Now that your VPN is created, you can verify your connection from the “Etat de la connexion VPN” tab.
