Based in Slovakia, TigerVPN was launched in 2011 to provide VPN solutions and online security tools. In May 2016, the Slovak predator was revamped and relaunched to keep up to date with the latest VPN requirements. As a result, we have decided to write a review including all the latest features.

Privacy Policy

TigerVPN follows a no logging policy. This means that none of your browsing activities will be monitored or stored into their records. On the other hand, like most VPN providers, some information is stored. This includes email address, password and payment details. In addition, the company keeps records of VPN sessions, bandwidth and timestamps as stated on their privacy policy section on the website:

“we may collect the following information: dates (not times) when connected to our service, choice of server location, and the total amount of data transferred per day. We store this to be able to deliver the best possible network experience to you. We analyze this information generically and keep the data secure. Our software may send diagnostic data to a third party analytics provider for the purpose of identifying connection errors and possible bugs in our application. The information collected is generic in nature and does not contain personally identifying information. We use third party cookies, pixels and website analytics tools to track sales promotions or advertisements and to understand which pages on the Site receive visitors.”

TigerVPN Features

In this section, we will explore the different features provided by TigerVPN, such as:level of security, encryption, servers, platform compatibility, etc. Scroll down for more details.

Security & Encryption

Even though TigerVPN may not support PFS, which stands for “Perfect Forward Secrecy”, it does rely on strong AES 256-bit encryption to support multiple protocols, such as: OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP/IPsec. We do not recommend using PPTP as it is no longer considered as a secure protocol and can be detected by most firewalls. We do, however, recommend using OpenVPN as it is the most secure tunneling protocol to date. What’s more, TigerVPN uses “meshed” IPs to maintain its users’ anonymity. It also uses a NAT firewall and runs its own server network including their own DNS servers for better security levels and performance. P2P and torrent users can rejoice as both P2P and torrenting are also permitted.

Server Locations

TigerVPN boasts a “grrrrroowing” global network of servers. So far, there are a total of 300 servers spread across 63 important locations in 45 major countries, including: USA, UK, DUBAI, INDIA, INDONESIA, TURKEY, CHINA, JAPAN, SOUTH KOREA, SINGAPORE, SPAIN, DENMARK, NETHERLANDS, ROMANIA, UKRAINE, GERMANY, PORTUGAL, FRANCE, RUSSIA, BULGARIA, SWEDEN, SWITZERLAND, MEXICO, BRAZIL, AUSTRALIA, and many more.

Such an impressively large server network is an essential factor in providing a reliable and stable connection. In addition, it provides users with more than one option to bypass geo-restrictions and get access to regionally blocked websites.

Compatibility

Cross-platform is supported with TigerVPN to include all major platforms and operatin systems, such as: Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. This means that there are software clients that can run on multiple devices, like desktops, laptops, smartphones and tablets. What’s more great is that the company offers up to 5 simultaneous connections in order for you to use the VPN on more than just one device at the same time.

Shimo VPN Manager

Shimo is an interesting feature offered by TigerVPN for Mac Hero Tiger users to manage their VPN protocols (OpenVPN, SSL, SSH, port forwarding) and enhance their security level. Other security features include; two-factor authentication, trigger automation, detailed time tracking to name a few.

Sticky Password

Sticky Password is another special feature provided by TigerVPN for Hero Tiger subscribers to secure their “login credentials” and passwords with an AES-encryption. According to PC Magazine:

“Sticky Password Premium does everything you’d expect from a password manager and more. New biometric authentication and no‑cloud Wi‑Fi sync make it an even better choice.”

Customer Support

When using a VPN service, customer support is an essential element to maintain reliability and credibility. TigerVPN is being promoted as customer oriented and a friendly tiger. However, we can hardly agree with this statement because customers can reach the support team only via e-mail tickets with a service level of 24 hrs which is far from being effecient compared to other VPN service, like bVPN, that offers 24/7 live chat support.

Conclusion

TigerVPN is a very good VPN service that can be considered as solid, however, missing some features. Although they seem very keen on focusing on privacy and security features, we would have expected them to provide the basic and most essential security features, such as: kill switch, DNS leak protection and IPv6 protection. We hope that they introduce those features in the future. One of the things that we like about TigerVPN is that they run their own network of servers and manage their own DNS servers. Not just that, but the size of their network is pretty impressive. The team behind TigerVPN has clearly invested a lot of time and effort to present us with a very sleek, elegant and joyful website that includes all the necessary information needed by any VPN user. As for prices, we find their monthly package a bit pricy, but the annual and semi-annual packages are not that bad. We would recommend subscribing to the annual package. In addition, we like the idea of karma points and rewards which is a very clever way to market a product and create a solid fan base.
