Looks like Cablevision has done it again. First by bringing HBO Now to cable and now becoming buddies with Hulu to sell the premium Hulu Plus $7.99 monthly subscription service to its subscribers. This means you can watch Hulu on cable!
That’s right, Cablevision Systems Corporation struck a deal with Hulu on Tuesday to distribute Hulu’s VOD catalog to Optimum customers. This is terrific news as Hulu’s VOD catalog only streams via the internet. Moreover, “Cablevision indicated that Hulu’s offering would be part of its “cord cutter” products, like a high-speed broadband package meant for people who like to watch video via the Internet, or in the parlance of the industry, over the top. Cablevision also operates a traditional pay-TV service and serves about 3 million total customers in the greater New York metropolitan area.”
Watch Hulu on cable, fabulous! But why?!
Founded in 2007, Hulu is the largest and most popular US-based video library on the internet with over 6 million subscribers. Hulu streams a variety of staggering entertainment material; such as: latest movie releases, T.V. shows, cartoons, cooking and health programs, documentaries, podcasts and trailers. To make your video experience even more luxurious and spectacular, you can browse for anything that you would like to watch on Hulu by genre; including: comedy, drama, action, cartoons, reality shows, game shows, science fiction, sports, anime, classics and kids.

According to Kristin Dolan, COO of Cablevision:
The partnership with Hulu reflects Cablevision’s desire to meet customers where they are. There is a new generation of consumers who access video through the Internet, and whatever their preference, Cablevision will facilitate a great content experience.
Internet video has become exceedingly popular than cable. More and more people have turned to online streaming services, such as: Hulu, Netflix, HBO, Pandora and many more to watch their favourite shows and programs instead of paying twice as much on cable services.
As a result, Cablevision is playing smart to embrace the consumer’s popular demands and keep up with streaming trends. Therefore, partnering up with giant streaming services, like: Hulu and HBO is a step forward for Cablevision and far reaching as well. According to CNet.com, “Hulu is owned by traditional TV giants Disney, 21st Century Fox and Comcast, through its NBC Universal arm. By striking deals with HBO Now and Hulu, Cablevision is still working with traditional TV programmers.”
On the other hand, the release date and package prices of Hulu Plus hasn’t been announced just yet. However, the expected 8$ monthly fee sounds like a great bargain.
